  My Mag
- Your own Community Magazine

Description of Company:

The My Mag formula is proven and if followed will yield profit in the first month and build into a significant business. Once it is up and running it can become a part-time business making an income that most people don’t earn working full time! Our great My Maggers simply get out there and talk to people with a passion to promote their businesses locally. We are looking for ‘people people’. Once you get businesses on board you put the magazine together in a publisher template (training manuals and CD’s are all included in the My Mag Formula).

Work Description:

It’s a complete ‘business-in-a-box’ that gives you everything you need to set-up, launch and run your very own local community magazine for your neighbourhood.

Your magazine will be professionally printed, (that’s your only significant ongoing cost) so it looks great, and it will be jam-packed with useful information, features, restaurant reviews, community news, cinema listings and useful phone numbers; it’s a local resident's handbook, if you like and its been described as a cross between the Yellow Pages and a Parish magazine.

The important thing is, it’s your magazine. You’re the editor, you can call it what you like and put in there whatever you like. You have full control and flexibility. It’s your baby – although we will provide you with guidance and suggestions based on our six years experience of what works across over 1,300 UK magazines.

As well as lots of local information your magazine will also contain advertising from local businesses. This is the really clever bit because advertising in My Mag publications is normally very, very effective for the right local businesses. Typically, they get a really good response from your magazine (we give you lots of tips and advice on how to make sure this happens) and, as a result, they stay with you, advertising month after month after month in many cases.

In short, when you follow the My Mag programme you’ll be able to quickly build a magazine that is:

- Really valued by the local community – as the best reference point to what is going on and where to go to get whatever they need;

- Invaluable to local businesses – as the best value and most effective form of advertising they can buy;

- very profitable for you.

In addition, My Mag is very enjoyable to run.

It’s fulfilling and rewarding and, of course, you can fit it in part-time around the children.

Average hours per week:

It really depends on how much you want to earn. To start with you should work around school trips as much as you can and when you are more established you can reduce your hours to suit your lifestyle. It’s entirely up to you.

Investment required:

The My Mag Formula costs £3,599 including VAT. That includes:

·        Training Manuals

·        Video Tutorials

·        Sales Techniques

·        Support

·        Advice

There are lots of My Maggers who have recovered their entire investment from the profits of their first two issues and some have done it quicker (the record is just 10 days!).

Ongoing Financial Commitment:

Your monthly print cost is the only significant ongoing cost. We give you detailed guidance in the programme as to what your print bill should be – we have access to some large printers who have committed to very low prices. Apart from that your only other costs are a bit of petrol (if you drive), or travel expenses, phone bill and maybe to pay for some help with your distribution (if required). All this is covered in detail at our regular coffee mornings – see our website for details – www.mymaguk.com.

There is also the My Mag Club that gives you ongoing support, articles, puzzles and sales help (£60 per month). There is no obligation to join the My Mag Club.

Earning Potential:

It is really down to you.

A typical 40 page magazine should generate around £2,000 profit each month (after you have paid for your printing costs) but many My Maggers produce 60 or 72 page magazines and their profits are much higher. Others run multiple magazines and their profits are higher still.

Experience Required:

We’ve had My Maggers with no experience whatsoever and they are now running extremely successful magazines. That’s the beauty of following a proven formula - the programme takes you through everything, step-by-step and the tools are there for you! You need to be energetic, personable and not afraid of a bit of hard work. You don’t need any sales experience or technical knowledge – we provide all the guidance and training that you’ll need.

Training & Support:

You will receive comprehensive Training Manuals, Video Tutorials, Sales CD’s and Head Office support - our support team is only a phone call away! Whilst there’s lots of things to do, everything is laid out for you in easy steps to make sure that nothing gets forgotten – and of course you’re getting the benefit of the learning of over 1,300 publishers over 6 years so you can be confident that nothing’s being missed. We also run the My Mag club that is optional (see above).

Car Required:

A car is not necessary but would help with the distribution of your magazine. You may want some help delivering your magazines anyway so you could hire someone with transport if you don’t drive.

Storage Required:

When your magazines get delivered from the printers they will need to stored in a small dry area until you deliver them. Most My Maggers use their garages or spare rooms.

Additional information:

My Mag is a complete system.

It's been developed, tried, tested and proven now by over 1,300 people in 6 countries.
It works!
Having a system is really important. There is a reason why the government says that franchises are ten times more likely to succeed than other businesses. It’s the concept of using proven systems.
Do exactly what someone else is doing, and you will get similar results.

BUT it’s not for everyone! 11% of people who buy a My Mag formula do not succeed – for the simple reason that they were not the right person – so when you give us a call, we will give you a real honest assessment whether we think My Mag’s for you or not!

Maria Feeney
I would never have dreamt I would be where I am today. With three young children 7, 5 and 2 and my husband going self employed and having recently moved house, I was searching for something I could do, that would allow me the flexibility to be there for my children and generate a decent income. I have now been producing ‘The Guide’ for just over 2 years and it couldn't be going any better. I'm so pleased that I took the plunge and bought my My Mag Pack. I now have my own very successful business that I fit in around my family and which I know - from all the great feedback I get - makes a difference to the people in our local community.

Being a reasonably shy person with zero sales experience, approaching businesses and asking them to advertise was a very daunting process for me. I’ve always felt it is important to the community to feature more than just business adverts which is why I continually look for interesting articles and features to run. In addition to the usual features and quiz pages there is also a Kidzone page which has seasonal puzzles, jokes and activities.

Working on my magazines has been and continues to be fantastic. It is great to have people actually stop me in the street because they want to thank me and tell me how much they enjoy receiving the mags. I used to be worried that people would think it was rubbishy junk mail but now I know that residents and businesses alike find them very useful and really do enjoy them landing on their doormats.
